If, like me, you feel the urge to undertake an Ayahuasca expedition, you probably couldn’t have chosen a better place. The retreat with Amayas was absolutely comprehensive – I didn’t miss anything. Communication was seamless. Accommodation in the middle of an authentic and beautifully loud jungle was unforgettable – you don’t experience something like that just anywhere. Karolína and Gabe took great care of us, the food was delicious and varied, and there was a friendly atmosphere overall. The program was perfectly balanced – we saw many of the beauties of Ecuador, we definitely didn’t get bored, and there was still enough time to rest between the individual ceremonies. I participated in the option with four ceremonies. Both shamans were exceptional and aroused deep respect. Their calm and strength, visible from the look in their eyes, were indelibly etched in my memory. I believe the ceremonies themselves give everyone exactly what they need – no matter how demanding it is. Aya medicine deserves respect, honest preparation and adherence to a diet. But it’s worth it. It’s hard to put into words what a person experiences during the ceremony, and everyone takes something different from it. But for me, the experience was a major life changer – it helped me step into a new, better direction and live happier. You just have to keep working on yourself! I recommend it with all my heart. I planned my trip to Ecuador for May 2024 and now that some time has passed, I would like to share my experiences with you. As a mother of two young children, I approached this trip with great respect – both the physical aspects of traveling to Ecuador and its security conditions, as well as the ceremonies themselves. I can assure you all that Ecuador is a safe and for the most part very friendly country. I went on this trip with my lifelong goal. We arrived in Quito three days early to acclimatize, which I highly recommend as we felt much better health wise afterwards. We spent a few days sightseeing in Quito and I recommend staying downtown; We especially enjoyed Viajero Hostel Quito. As per our arrangement, Karolina’s driver picked us up and we got to know the rest of the group during the five-hour drive. We turned out to be a great group and I am so grateful to them that it was the best vacation of my life.

Staying with Karolina was, in one word, fantastic. The accommodation at Gabo’s place was excellent – we all lived in the same cabin, which brought us closer together 😉 Gabo looked after us impeccably; it was better than staying at the Hilton, and it’s surprising that his cuisine hasn’t won a Michelin star yet, even though in our minds they’ve won countless. Also for those who, like me, don’t read the instructions carefully 😉 … you can wash and air-dry your clothes at Karolina’s, which I wish I had known in advance; I would pack half as much. But then again, I would spend more shopping in local communities and shops :-D. Buy your wellies there too or borrow a pair from Karolina – she has quite a collection. The program was absolutely flawless. Every day brought new experiences, beautiful places, excellent food, and Karolína was able to prepare a program and activities tailored to our needs and travel pace. There isn’t a single thing I would criticize… and no, this article is not sponsored. I write it as it was.

I would also like to say that our group was not made up of young people who were passionate about something, but rather adults in their forties who have experienced a lot in life, achieved a lot and set out on this journey with clear wishes and desires. For me personally, the jungle was one of the most powerful experiences; my soul loves greenery and nature, and I felt like I was in paradise in the jungle. I won’t say much about the ceremonies themselves – I believe they are worth experiencing in person and more than any other the experience is transferable. It’s also memorable. From a practical point of view, Karolína explained everything to us in detail – what awaits us, how it will develop, and she was with us the whole time as a support, which had an amazingly reassuring effect on me. Shamans are wonderful, admirable beings full of power and wisdom, and it amazes me that they are so willing to offer their services to us white Europeans. If anyone is still hesitating, drop all your doubts and go. For me, it was the best life experience that mentally enriched my world, solidified many of my thoughts and anchored them, giving me confidence in my intentions. BUT – I will say frankly that the return to European civilization is really difficult. I wish you all a wonderful trip and enjoy Karolina’s guiding skills. Hats off to her for taking care of five adults at her age!

Absolutely an astonishing experience, I was looking for years to meet authentic shamans of the native tribes of the amazon basin. I’m a global traveller and an outdoor guide since years, and this experience really exceeds my expectations. All the experience was enlightening and authentic; we visited their community in the jungle and we got really in touch with the ancestral cultures of the amazon basin. It’s great! Carolina (and Gabo!) is lovely, always taking care about us in the whole process, I’ve never felt alone. The food quality is great and all the activities around the main experience are well planned. I really recommend it!!

The experience with Amayas and Kája was absolutely wonderful for me and honestly one of those that you will never forget. The whole retreat is very well organized – everything makes sense, everything fits together. The activities are beautiful, fun, but most importantly deep. The jungle there has incredible power. You feel that it lives and breathes with you. And through the local culture, you will understand how much wisdom is hidden in nature. You will learn how to make cocoa, how to use medicinal plants, and most importantly, how life can be easier when you approach it with respect and peace. And the ceremony… that is a chapter in itself. Shaman Luis is incredible, calm, authentic, and you feel enormous strength and humility from him. For me personally, it was one of the hardest, but at the same time the most important experiences in my life. The first night was a cleansing. I went deep into my pain, old memories and everything I carried inside me and I experienced it again. But thanks to that, I was able to let go of what had been weighing me down for a long time. And in other ceremonies, understanding, answers, and peace came. No matter how spiritual it sounds – ayahuasca will not change your life. Only you can do that. But if you let it, it can help you on that journey, show you the direction and open your heart to where you may have closed it before. As for the atmosphere, it is absolutely amazing. The food is great, the place is beautiful, and most importantly, you don’t have to be afraid to go alone… After two days, you feel like you are with family. You share everything together – laughter, silence, tears, and even the greatest inner peace. Gábi, Kája and Luis are souls who do it with love and sincerity, and you feel that in every moment. From my experience with ayahuasca, it helped me a lot to come back to myself and the important thing is to focus on the things around me and appreciate what we have 🍀❤️ I let go of drugs and booze and actually there is no reason to go back to it when I have nice feelings also from other things that I didn’t even have before on drugs..) I spent 7 days at Amayas a month ago and it was a wonderful, unforgettable experience for me. The setting is truly magical – surrounded by nature, with a river where you can spend magical moments in complete peace. The accommodation was very comfortable, we had everything we could possibly need, and we were taken care of perfectly at all times. A big thank you goes to Gabriel, Karolína’s partner, who was incredibly friendly, hospitable and always ready to help with a smile throughout our stay. The food was fantastic – tasty, healthy and prepared with love. The program included three Ayahuasca ceremonies led by a very powerful shaman, Louis. Each of them was a profound and enriching experience. In addition to the ceremonies, we also enjoyed trips – either on the river or in the jungle by the lagoon, which enriched the entire stay even more. Looking back now, I feel like I lived a wonderful dream. It was a transformative week full of beauty, peace and connection with nature. I definitely want to go back. If you are even considering staying at Amayas, go for it. You won’t regret it – on the contrary, you will want to go back! 😁

It was the first time I had traveled this far across the world by myself and also to Ayahuasca, which was also my first time. And if I could change it, in no case would I change my choice to go to Karolina and this program of hers.

My daughter recommended a stay in Ecuador with Amayas. She had been there a few months before me and came back absolutely thrilled. She told me everything with her eyes shining and I was just jealous of her. At the end of her story, she said: “And you should go there too, you have to experience it!” And that was the beginning of my trip to see Karolína and Gab. They not only helped me with organizing flights and accommodation in Quito, but they also kept me informed about everything. Great cooperation! I flew to Quito and then everything went completely smoothly. The car picked me and the other members of the stay up at the hotel. A few hours of driving through breathtaking nature and Karolína and Gaba’s eyes were already shining for us. This time with a wonderful three-day addition to the family – their newborn son! And just as our stay started beautifully, it continued for the entire 11 days. Clean and safe accommodation in a breathtaking wilderness setting, perfect food, almost daily trips perfectly thought out and organized. Karolína not only took care of her son, but whenever she could, she came to us and willingly answered any questions we had. Gabo is not only a great cook, but also an inexhaustible source of information and knowledge about the local environment and the jungle. We could ask anything and he always answered us willingly and thoroughly. The ceremony was led by shaman Luis. Each ceremony was perfect, although very demanding. I attended the very first Amayas expedition and I haven’t felt this great in a long time! All my life I’ve kind of fumbled with who I am. Why do I react in certain situations the way I do and she didn’t know the deeper meaning of my life. In addition, in the last two years I have gone through a turning point for me, both with the people around me and with myself. I felt injustice and resentment. The Amayas program came at the most opportune moment for me and I felt I had to go. Not only did this trip provide me with amazing experiences, but mainly thanks to the ceremonies, I found love for myself. She understood who I am and forgave everyone who hurt me in my life. The trip organized by Karolina was great. I am glad that I could undergo my first ayahuasca ceremony by her side. She took great care of us and we really weren’t bored. I chose the ayahuasca trip with Amayas because until then my head was bursting with negative energies that I needed to release, nor did I have much determination on what to spend with my life, I felt disrespect for myself by what I put into my life attracted and did, everything stopped being fun for me – I just stopped and all my motivation went away.
