At our Ayahuasca retreat center in the heart of the Amazon jungle, we offer authentic and powerful ayahuasca ceremonies in Ecuador, guided by highly experienced shamans. These sacred ceremonies provide a safe and supportive environment for deep healing and spiritual transformation.
Each ayahuasca ceremony takes place in a traditional maloca – a spacious, circular ceremonial hut surrounded by pristine nature. This setting allows participants to feel grounded, calm, and energetically connected to the jungle.
Ceremonies begin around 8:00 PM, when the energy of Ayahuasca is considered to be strongest. Each person has their own mattress, blanket, and pillow. Restrooms are easily accessible nearby.
Our lead shaman is accompanied by two assistants who remain present throughout the night to ensure everyone’s safety and to provide assistance when needed.
Before drinking, the shaman blesses the ayahuasca medicine by playing a sacred musical instrument. The brew is then served to each participant one by one. Afterward, everyone lies down in silence and begins their inner journey. The effects of Ayahuasca usually begin within 30 to 60 minutes.
After approximately 2–3 hours, the shaman begins personal cleansing. Each participant is invited to sit in front of him for a deep energetic clearing and healing process. This involves hands-on work, spiritual guidance, and the singing of icaros – traditional healing songs. These sessions last about 20 minutes per person and are often described as incredibly powerful, uplifting, and emotionally freeing.
Once every participant has received their cleansing, the shaman completes the ayahuasca ceremony, and leaves the maloca. Guests are welcome to remain resting in the ceremonial space until morning.
Every individual’s journey with Ayahuasca is different. Some begin with physical cleansing such as vomiting or sweating. Others experience strong emotions, vivid visions, or spiritual breakthroughs. There are also those who don’t feel much during their first ayahuasca ceremony, which is often the result of poor preparation or not following the recommended dietary guidelines.
Preparation is essential. Without proper physical and mental readiness, the medicine may not reach its full potential. That’s why we provide all participants with a detailed preparation and diet guide at least 14 days before their retreat. This preparation is key to unlocking the deeper healing potential of Ayahuasca.
Importantly, the effects of the ceremony don’t end when the night ends. Over the following days and weeks, many people report feeling lighter, more emotionally balanced, and deeply connected to their intuition. The changes often unfold gradually as Ayahuasca continues to guide the healing process.
The true power of Ayahuasca lies not only in the ceremony itself but also in the way it transforms daily life afterward. That’s why it is vital to experience it in a safe, respectful environment with proper support – and under the guidance of a truly experienced shaman.
At Amayas Ecuador, we offer a deeply rooted ayahuasca ceremony in Ecuador, led by respected shamans who have dedicated their lives to this sacred tradition. Every ceremony is guided with intention, humility, and deep reverence for the medicine. We provide a sacred space where real transformation can happen.
If Ayahuasca is calling you, it may be time to step into a powerful journey of healing and self-discovery. At our retreat center in the Ecuadorian jungle, you’ll find a safe and sacred environment to open your heart, reconnect with your soul, and begin a path that can change your life.
Ayahuasca ceremonies are ritual sessions in which participants consume ayahuasca, a traditional drink of the indigenous tribes of the Amazon, to have a profound spiritual experience and gain knowledge of themselves and the universe around them.
