Ayahuasca ceremony - informations

Ayahuasca ceremony is a sacred ritual used for healing, transformation, and self-discovery. On this page you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding its course at our center, preparation and integration.

We offer 11 day and 7 day ayahuasca retreats led by a local, powerful shaman in the Amazon, which include many amazing activities.

Our ceremonies take place in the heart of the Amazon jungle in a traditional maloka, led by an experienced shaman and assistants who are present throughout the ceremony to ensure your 100% safety.

We start in the evening around 8:00 PM, when the sacred drink Ayahuasca is served. During the night, each participant goes through a deep inner process and individual energetic cleansing, accompanied by healing chants called icaros.

The entire ritual takes place in a safe, supportive and transformative environment.

You can find out more about how exactly our ceremonies take place here: Ayahuasca ceremonies at our center

We recommend completing at least 3-4 ceremonies to have a truly deep and transformative experience. The first ceremony is often more of an “acquaintance” – Ayahuasca taps into you and mainly cleanses the body and mind. Only in the second, third or fourth ceremony does the process begin to go deeper and insights, answers and deeper healing come.

The experience is usually more demanding at first – mainly due to physical cleansing (e.g. vomiting), or because the person does not know what to expect. Following a preparatory diet and mental adjustment also play a big role.

Ayahuasca is not a path that can be taken without awareness – if a person does not integrate what the ceremony shows them and does not work on themselves outside of the ceremony, the effect may be lost. Therefore, it is ideal to complete several ceremonies, do some work in everyday life and only then return to the next one.

According to our clients' reviews and experiences, 3-4 ceremonies are usually more than enough for Ayahuasca to reveal deep truths and direct a person to a new life path. But it really depends on how consistently you follow the preparatory diet.

If you underestimate it or do not follow it, you cannot expect any miracles from Ayahuasca - often it will not "open" at all or will not work as it could.

An Ayahuasca ceremony lasts an average of 3 to 5 hours, sometimes longer. During the ceremony, however, you lose track of time – several hours can seem like one intense moment.

The length and depth of the experience are very individual and depend, among other things, on the amount of Ayahuasca drunk. Every organism reacts differently, and therefore each participant determines their own amount based on how they feel.

If you feel the need to drink another dose during the process, you can add more after a certain time.

The ceremony is conducted safely and with respect for your personal process.

It is also good to know that the effect may be significantly weaker or shorter during the first ceremony – the body and consciousness are just getting to know the energy of Ayahuasca.

Many people say that the first ceremony was more about physical cleansing and only the next ones opened up deeper experiences for them. That is why we recommend at least 3-4 ceremonies so that the process can truly develop.

Ayahuasca is a sacred, deeply healing medicine that can fundamentally transform your life – if you really allow it to. It is suitable for anyone who feels they need change, healing or a deeper understanding of themselves.

It helps people who have long felt lost, tired or empty inside. Those who struggle with inner chaos, anxiety, depression or do not see the direction they should go in life. It can unravel deep-rooted traumas, relieve mental and physical pain and bring answers to questions that a person has been carrying around for a lifetime.

Ayahuasca will show you the truth – about you, your life, your relationships and the world around you. It will help you understand why certain things happen to you, why you attract recurring situations or why you keep going in circles. Its effect is very powerful and deep – but at the same time subtle and precise.

Many people experience strong emotional release, inner relief and a deep understanding of what needs to change during the ceremonies.

There is no ideal box for who should try Ayahuasca. It is more about an inner calling. If you feel that something is missing in your life, that you are lost, empty, exhausted or on the verge of strength - Ayahuasca can lead you back to yourself. It can give you back joy, direction, peace and a deep connection with yourself.

However, it is important to mention that Ayahuasca itself does not solve anything. It opens a path for you, but you have to walk it yourself. It does not do anything for you. Everything is in your hands.

After a few ceremonies, your entire perception often changes - you move your thinking forward many years.

Things that you previously considered important will no longer make sense. Your values, priorities and often relationships will change.

You will suddenly begin to perceive the people around you differently - more truthfully. Some people decide to leave their partner, move, change their life direction.

Everything Ayahuasca shows is just an opportunity – it’s up to you what you do with it.

The effect of Ayahuasca does not end with the last night of the ceremony – on the contrary, the most important thing is just beginning.

The ceremony can open up profound insights, but their real impact will only be felt later – in everyday situations, in relationships and in the way you begin to perceive the world around you.

Many people describe that after the ceremony they perceive reality more intensely – their mind is calmer, their heart more open and their intuition stronger. In certain situations, you will realize that you react differently than before – more consciously, with distance, with greater understanding.

People you previously considered friends suddenly see for who they really are. Your energy changes – and with it, who and what you attract into your life. New people, new situations, new opportunities – and sometimes a new partner come along.

At the same time, many things you considered important suddenly cease to make sense. Values and priorities change.
Some people decide to change their lives completely after the ceremony – move, change jobs, end dysfunctional relationships.

Because Ayahuasca can show you anything – the truth that you have not wanted to admit for a long time. And then it is up to you what you do with it.

Ayahuasca continues to work in you – for months or years. The feeling of lightness, connection and a deeper understanding of life remains. It is difficult to describe it exactly.

You have to experience it.
But remember – everything is up to you.

Ayahuasca can open doors for you, but you are the one who decides whether to walk through them.

You can ignore all the signs and return to your old way of life – or open yourself to change and truly live what you felt during the ceremonies.

During my travels through Ecuador and Peru, I searched for the strongest and most experienced shaman.

Today, he is the one who guides our ceremonies at Amayas Ecuador – and together we form a strong team that will guide you safely on your inner journey.

All detailed information about shaman can be found here: (shaman)

Shamans are traditional healers, spiritual guides and energy purifiers. During Ayahuasca ceremonies, they are able to connect to your energy field, consciousness and subconscious through sacred medicine.
Through Ayahuasca, they “see through you” – they perceive the deep causes of your problems, often hidden traumas, blocks and injuries that ordinary people do not notice. They see what remains hidden to most.
Thanks to this ability, the shaman can also help you with specific problems, if you come to them consciously. Ayahuasca and the shaman together guide the process in such a way as to help you heal what you really need – on a physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual level.
Shamans help with a wide range of problems - from anxiety, depression, insomnia, addictions, chronic pain, infertility, hormonal disorders, autoimmune diseases, skin problems (e.g. eczema, psoriasis), digestive problems to more serious conditions such as cancer, inflammatory diseases or unexplained health complications.
If you suffer from a specific disease and are interested in deeper treatment, you can find more information here: (Special treatment of serious diseases) As part of regular Ayahuasca ceremonies during an Ayahuasca retreat, the shaman thoroughly cleanses you energetically of everything that no longer serves you - negative energies, old emotions and burdens.
Each ceremony brings deeper and deeper relief. With each next one, a person feels lighter, more stable and more like themselves.
Shaman cleansing is an essential part of the whole process - often it is she who triggers the inner transformation and healing that a person has long sought.

In short, it belongs to the purification process. Why? If the body is not clean, it works on the physical level, this manifests itself in vomiting.

For that reason, there is a bucket ready for each of you to throw up in during the ceremony - if you need to. There are also those who do not vomit at all.

But don't worry. It is not a classic, unpleasant vomiting – you feel that everything you no longer want is leaving your body (and life).

You will feel amazing!

You may also not have any visions at the first ceremony. First of all, it is important that you cleanse yourself of everything bad and be ready for the next process with ayahuasca.

Ayahuasca ceremonies should be avoided by people with heart disease, epilepsy or schizophrenia. It is also not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

The ceremony cannot be performed if you are taking:

antidepressants (especially SSRIs and SNRIs),
anxiolytics (anxiety medications),
antibiotics,
antipsychotics, barbiturates, antihypertensives,
drugs affecting the central nervous system (CNS) or
other psychotropic drugs.

They can be fatal when combined with Ayahuasca, as Ayahuasca itself contains monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) – specifically harmaline and harmine, and their effects are extremely potentiated when combined with these substances.

MAOI drugs - increased effect, possible fatal consequences
SSRI/SNRI antidepressants (e.g. Zoloft, Wellbutrin, Prozac)
Antipsychotics, antibiotics, barbiturates, antihypertensives

More information on this topic can be found in the next question below and then especially during a personal consultation, because the correct preparation and approach depend on the type of specific problem or health condition.

Now that you know one of the most important aspects of working with ayahuasca is the diet. This diet prepares your body and mind to receive the healing energy of ayahuasca. It involves not only adhering to dietary rules but also avoiding any physical contact with other people (sex, kissing). If you follow this diet, you can have beautiful experiences.

14 days before the start of the expedition, you will receive more detailed information about the diet that we have prepared especially for you.

At least 1 week before the start of the expedition, you should start following it. However, I recommend starting at least two weeks before the trip to achieve the maximum effect!
